





Master in Public Sector Innovations
This concentration empowers students to conduct critical evaluations of politics and public policy across various governance levels. It provides a robust foundation in theories, coupled with strong analytical and practical components, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the design, development, and reform of public policies within diverse institutional contexts and at multiple levels of governance. MPSI-PPS is designed to support public sector practitioners aiming to acquire exceptional competencies. Emphasizing the formulation and crafting of internal policies, the program addresses all aspects, including matter, manner, and method, with a focus on stakeholder engagement, public involvement, and seamless interoperability with relevant agencies.
This concentration empowers students to cultivate critical, analytical, and integrative skills for addressing issues and challenges related to sustainable development. It centers on enhancing the well-being of individuals and communities by creating a habitat that is more convenient, equitable, healthy, efficient, and attractive for present and future generations, achieved through innovative solutions. MPSI-SD inspires government personnel to prioritize governance and innovation frameworks within service programs and government projects, fostering social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
This concentration equips students with the skills necessary for developing e-governance competencies in public service. It emphasizes the creation, maintenance, sharing, and utilization of digital knowledge systems as essential components for effective public service delivery, problem-solving, and issue resolution in the public sector. MPSI DEG encourages public sector practitioners involved in reforms and initiatives to prioritize the imperative of digitalizing processes and procedures, ensuring more responsive and globally aligned public services.Â
This concentration underscores the pivotal role of government institutions in responsible and proactive stewardship. It places a strong emphasis on administrative decision-making across all levels of government and explores potential solutions through stakeholder engagement to mitigate risks associated with both nature and human-induced climate change, thereby addressing impacts on communities. MPSI-ECS encourages public sector practitioners actively involved in addressing challenges related to environment, disaster, and waste management.Â
The MPSI is a two-year master’s degree program offered by the Institute of Governance, Innovations, and Sustainability of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines. The program was co-designed with Golden Gate University and supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The MPSI is structured as a four-tiered program, ensuring a hierarchy of advanced learning rooted in the anthropology of the public sector, public welfare, and emerging social dimensions of public interest. This approach is vital for integrating a much-needed perspective into governance thinking and practice.
